Greetings, Peppermill Lake District Members!
As the summer draws to a close, we are excited to announce our 2025 Annual Meeting, a cornerstone
event for our community. This meeting is a vital opportunity for every member to engage in discussions
that will shape the future of our beloved lake.
This year, we have several important items on the agenda, including board member elections, reviewing
and approving our updated Lake Management Plan, and budget review and approval.
Board Member Elections:  The current terms for BJ Schmitt and Nancy Lenz expire this year. If you are
interested in serving on the board, please submit your name to Jeff Ranous. Nominations will also be
accepted from the floor during the meeting.
Lake Management Plan Update: Over the past year, the Peppermill Lake Management District has
worked to develop an updated Lake Management Plan—a guiding document that outlines our shared
goals and strategies for protecting the ecological health, recreational value, and overall sustainability of
the lake. With input from experts and community members, the draft plan addresses key priorities such
as aquatic plant management, water quality monitoring, shoreline protection, and balanced use.
This summer, the draft plan was posted for a 30-day public comment period to ensure community
members had an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed strategies and recommendations. We
appreciate everyone who took the time to review and share feedback. At this year’s annual meeting, we
will review the plan and seek approval from the Lake District members.
Harvesting Update: This season marked the first full year of harvesting with our new equipment. While
working to keep navigation lanes clear, we also focused our efforts on invasive species, particularly
Eurasian Water Milfoil, in areas where growth was beginning to interfere with recreation or outcompete
native vegetation.
With regular harvesting using our own equipment, we’re able to assess conditions firsthand and carry
out more targeted harvesting where it’s needed most. Throughout the summer, we prioritized the zones
identified as the most problematic, adapting our approach as conditions changed. Moving forward, we’ll
continue to collaborate with DNR to refine our harvesting map and ensure our efforts align with permit
requirements and overall lake management goals. We’ll share more at the annual meeting and look
forward to hearing your observations on how things went this summer.

2026 Lake District Budget: We will review and seek approval for the 2026 budget. This includes
allocations for harvesting operations, ongoing maintenance, and other lake management activities. Your
input on financial planning and resource allocation is essential to ensure we meet the community’s
needs effectively.
Voting Rights and Procedures: As per the 2004 Wisconsin Act 275, please remember the following
voting guidelines:
1. Presence for Voting: You must be physically present at the meeting to vote. No proxies or
absentee ballots are allowed.
2. Property Ownership and Voting: Each property owner has one vote. Joint owners each have a
